Chartrons

Chartrons grew rich on the 18th-century wine trade, and its long stone négociant houses and cellars still line the Quai des Chartrons. Today it is one of the city's most coveted addresses: Rue Notre-Dame is wall-to-wall antique dealers and wine bars, and the Sunday quayside market draws the whole left bank. It blends heritage with a polished bobo-chic lifestyle, independent boutiques, the Musée du Vin et du Négoce, and a riverside promenade leading north to the Cité du Vin. Tram Lines B and C and the Garonne cycle path make it effortlessly central without the hypercentre crowds, while prices have held up better than the city average through the post-2022 correction.
